House Fiddlewood

“Charm is created by taking an ordinary design and focusing on the details”

Location: Anerley, Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa.

This project took an existing single story house and added 4 bedrooms with the addition of an upper level. The theme direction evolved into ‘romantic beach house’.

It involved modestly pitched roofs with exposed painted timber trusses, timber panelling, large, elegant elongated windows, aluminium window shutters, square profile roof sheeting and timber balconies.

The design has retained existing elements from the house to reduced building costs, with security considered as a strong design element. The house is a lock up and go item, designed to completely open and close with the minimum amount of fuss to guests, whilst retaining high levels of security. This allows unobstructed views, a strong physical connection between house and user and the requisite functionality and practicality of a holiday home.

On site mid 2011,

project expected to be completed end 2012.
